The Village of Mukwonago is seeking Wisconsin DNR Approval of a new high capacity well near Highway J in the Town of East Troy. East Troy and LBMD officials have attended public hearings to determine the possible impact on the proposed well on both local private wells and Lake Beulah and have received the following expert opinion from our hydrogeologist regarding the potential damage of the proposed well to Lake Beulah.:
Bob Nauta of RJN Environmental Services, LLC reviewed the draft letter to the Village of Mukwonago from Aquifer Science and Technology (July 10, 2007), presenting the Caine Test Well Pumping Test Results and Recommendations. Based on his review, it is his opinion that the proposed Mukwonago municipal well will not have an adverse impact on Lake Beulah. Because the well is located downstream from Lake Beulah, it will be capturing groundwater that is leaving the lake’s watershed naturally. Also, because of its distance from the lake, it should not result in an acceleration of the flow of water from the lake.

Please note the attached weed removal regulations. For raked out weeds that are placed on piers, make sure there are no sticks, stones or muck from bottom of the lake. Call the weed hot line 363-5359 and give location of pier.

Protecting Lake Beulah Through Water Monitoring
A Cooperative Agreement was approved on February 15, 2008 signed by David Skotarzak, Chairman LBMD and William Loesch, President Village of East Troy.
The agreed upon plan is to begin collecting weekly data as soon as weather permits in order to develop a database before the planned start of Well #7 pumping at the initial volume of 400 gallons per minute in September 2008.

PROTECTING LAKE BEULAH
Negotiating an Easement Agreement for the Lake Beulah Dam
History

The earthen outflow dam on Lake Beulah under Walworth County J was constructed over 100 years ago to raise the level of the lake and form one contiguous lake from the original three separate lakes (Mill Lake, Crooked Lake and Long Lake)
Over the years, property owners built their homes on the land that forms the structure of the dam and, therefore, became "owners” of the dam with rights to restrict access of the DNR, Walworth County and the Lake Beulah Management District to inspect, maintain, and, as necessary, repair the dam structure and spillway. Obviously, failure of the dam would be catastrophic for our lake and for residents in the "flood plain" below the dam.
